The prerequisites for the course are:
being 21 years of age;
having a CEFR C2 level of English;
holding an initial teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, Cert TESOL etc).
having a minimum of 2 years of classroom experience post-initial qualification.
The Delta course encompasses a combination of theory and practice. There are three modules in Delta, with two options for module three.

Module One:
This module focuses on extending and developing candidates’ knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning English in a range of contexts.
theoretical perspectives on language acquisition and language teaching;
different approaches and methodologies, including current developments;
language systems and student problems;
language skills and student problems;
knowledge of resources, materials and reference sources for language learning;
main concepts and terminology related to assessment.
Module Two:
This module focuses on the principles and practice of planning and teaching:
the language learner and the context of language learning;
lesson planning for teaching English to language students;
evaluation, selection and use of resources and materials for educational purposes;
classroom management and learning resources;
assessment;
observation of other teachers’ classes
professionalism and opportunities for professional development.
Module Three Option One – Extending Practice and ELT Specialism:
This module focuses on needs analysis, syllabus design, course planning and assessment in the context of a selected specialism.
research into specialist areas;
principles of syllabus design and implications for learning contexts;
designing syllabus and teaching programmes to meet the needs of learners in the specific context of the selected specialism;
course design and development in the specific context of the selected specialism;
the principles and practice of testing and assessment and their application to the candidate’s specialist area;
monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness and quality of courses and programmes of study.
Module Three Option Two – English Language Teaching Management:
This module focuses on situation analysis and planning, and implementing change in the context of a selected management specialism.

design of change proposals;
implementation of change proposals.
